Table Official – Role Overview

A table official plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate running of a karate tournament. Operating under WKF rules, table officials are responsible for:

• Recording scores and penalties as signalled by the refereeing panel
• Managing the official score sheets and digital scoring systems
• Operating the timer for match duration, injury time, or other pauses
• Monitoring competitor order and ensuring smooth bout progression
• Communicating clearly with the referee, judges, and match manager
• Assisting with the use of flags, cards, or electronic devices to reflect match decisions
