Mission Statement
The mission of the English Karate National Governing Body is to provide the best and easy access for Associations and the members, keeping the values of karate, with respect and friendships.

As we move forward, we are committed to modernising our approach, embracing transparency, unity, and growth. Our new path strengthens the traditional spirit of karate while opening new doors for collaboration, opportunity, and excellence for all involved.

A year has passed and the EKNGB can proudly say we have:


–       We have modernised our approach with all associations of the EKNGB moving towards the new Sport:80 system of licencing their members.

–       We have a clear website being updated regularly.

–       We have policies which are growing daily to provide good governance.

–       We have grown our national pathway which starts from Young Lions, through to Regional Training and onto National level.

–       We embrace our traditional values and are committed to making sure these remain.

–       We have provided opportunities to athletes to compete at EKF European Championships, a WKF World Youth League, the WKF World Championship and Commonwealth Karate Championships.

–       We have provided world level coaching from top, proven, English Coaches who are shaping the younger generation for great things.

–       We have strengthened safeguarding practices to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all participants, especially young athletes.

–       We have improved coach education and development pathways, raising the standard and consistency of coaching across the country.

–       We have increased collaboration between clubs, fostering a more unified and supportive national karate community.

–       We have enhanced transparency and communication with members through regular updates and open engagement.

–       We have expanded grassroots participation, encouraging more people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in karate.

–       We have built stronger relationships with international governing bodies, ensuring representation and recognition on the global stage.

–       We have introduced structured talent identification systems to better support emerging athletes.

–       We have invested in long-term athlete development, focusing not just on results but on sustainable success.
