We are proud to announce a landmark achievement for the English Karate National Governing Body.
Following the successful completion of a rigorous national application process, we have officially been awarded “The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts for Governing Organisations.” This recognition confirms that our organisation is operating with robust safeguarding policies, procedures, and a clear commitment to the welfare of all participants within karate.
This is a significant moment in our journey. It demonstrates not only the standards we have embedded across our organisation, but also the culture we are continuing to build one where safety, responsibility, and accountability are non negotiable.
As a governing body, this award allows us to display the Safeguarding Code mark, providing assurance to parents, carers, clubs, and partners that safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. It is important to note that while this recognises our governance, all clubs and schools will still be required to meet the standard independently reinforcing a consistent and high-quality approach across the sport.
This milestone is also a key step forward in evidencing our commitment towards achieving Sport England recognition, aligning with national frameworks and strengthening our position as a credible, transparent, and progressive governing body for karate in England.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this process your work, dedication, and belief in doing things the right way have made this possible.
This is not the finish line it is the foundation. We remain committed to continuous improvement, including ongoing review through the annual safeguarding health check, ensuring we continue to meet and exceed the standards expected of a national governing body.
We move forward stronger, safer, and more united.
