A great turnout throughout England today for the EKNGB Kata and Para Training with our Head regional kata coaches
Sensei Peter Livett, Sensei Max Millard, Sensei Mike Carr and EKNGB Assistant National coach Sensei Kevan Alderton taking EKNGB athletes through technical and conditioning sessions across the age groups and levels.
EKNGB Midland Kata and Para Training
Great session today for Midlands kata. Starting with Kihon and drills followed by kata as a group and finishing with demonstration of their competition line up. Fantastic attitude and etiquette shown by all and a bright future for English karate. All trained incredibly hard and truly put their best foot forward. I am incredibly excited to see how this group go from strength to strength, develop and grow into the best karateka they can be.

EKNGB Southern Kata and Para Training
In the regional squad Kata session we had a great turn out with 34 in attendence across all categories.
The session started with kata based fitness warm up, utalising “stop, start” exercise to have the body moving and fitness ready for the high level explosive movements and dramatics stops of Kata.
Explosion was also focused with specific drills in warm ups.
Next, Kihon basics with the lessons theme on explosive power, hip movement and dead stops. Demonstrations of hip power generation and building torque to release relaxed power and lock Kime at the end for the dead stops of the techniques.
After the squad split into categories to come up and go head to head for a selection on the southern regional team.
A fantastic work ethic from all athletes with a lot of passion shown on the Tatami along with open minds and being extremely coachable.
No one came along to take part, but all athletes came to make a statement of who they are, and why they should represent the South.

EKNGB Northern Kata and Para Training
Northern Kata Region held its first provisional selection session today ahead of the Presidents Cup this November.
The session began with an intense focus on Team Kata, concentrating on rhythm, timing, conformity, synchronisation, and technical precision. The standard and commitment shown throughout reflected the hard work and dedication being put in across the region.
We then moved on to individual performances, where every athlete stepped up brilliantly, showcasing not only their skill and spirit, but also the incredible talent and potential the North has to offer.
A fantastic start to the journey towards November, with plenty more hard work still to come.
