EKNGB Pre-train for Senior WKF 61st European Karate Championships took place at in the EKNGB Northern region at our partner training facilities British Combat Academy, Wakefield and LE Karate Academy in Grimsby on Saturday 9th May 2026 for Kumite & Kata.

All Kata sessions went well, good to mix the para with the kata squad. First part of the session was hip activating basics followed by full performances. After a short break the second part was technical work correcting earlier performances in preparation for Sunday followed by separating the upper and lower body and work on slow movements. All athletes joined in the rounds with para and individual then bunkai for the second half of the session. Well done Team England.

Well done to all the England Senior Team for all the hard work they have put in this weekend.

Senior pre-train continued at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield today.

Today saw our new Interim England Head Kata Coach, Sensei Aimee Sell was ready to show her skill as a high level performance coach. Team England is very lucky to have this exceptional coach behind them alongside EKNGB National Kata coach Sensei Kevan Alderton.

Good work across the kumite squad with 10 days until elimination rounds begin in Frankfurt, Germany. The next session for the England team will be EKNGB Sport Science Performance day at Coventry University on Tuesday.
