A fantastic and highly productive day at Coventry University with a selection of our England Team and Squad members.

Athletes completed a full carousel of performance testing, including:

• Anthropometric profiling

• Jump and drop testing

• 300m shuttle tests

• 1RM strength assessments

Alongside athlete testing, we delivered CPD workshops for our EKNGB Regional and National Coaches, as well as members of the performance team.

Coaches engaged in an interactive workshop focused on:

• Shared mental models (technical & physical)

• Collective intelligence

• Team culture intelligence

• Soft skills for elite-level coaching

Athletes and coaches also took part in a seminar on Performance Profiling for elite Karate athletes, working collaboratively to identify performance gaps and establish SMART goals, alongside tailored mental and physical development programmes.

The day concluded with a collaborative session and Q&A between EKNGB coaches, special advisors, and the performance department.

In parallel, productive meetings were held with Coventry University faculty and performance staff to plan:

• The next Performance Day

• An upcoming online seminar on nutrition and weight cutting

• A summer Performance Weekend at the Sport Science department with our A Squad

• Future research initiatives in Karate, launching Autumn 2026

A big thank you to Paul Simmons for organising the day and to Coventry University for their continued support and partnership with the WKF Olympic Karate National Governing Body in England.
